Hiking guide with trail maps and outdoor gear

How We Started

We didn’t start with a grand plan. We started because locals kept asking us the same questions: Where’s the best cave trail in Moravian Karst? How long does the Svratka river walk actually take? Which Pálava routes work best in autumn? We realized there wasn’t one reliable place with honest, detailed information about day hikes near Brno.

In 2019, we began documenting trails ourselves. We walked them in different seasons, talked to locals, tracked timing, and photographed every significant landmark. It wasn’t glamorous work, but it mattered. We weren’t trying to create a perfect guide—we wanted something real , where hikers could trust the details.

Now we’re Edifyvalley, and our focus hasn’t changed. We’ve expanded to cover all the major regions—Moravian Karst cave trails, Pálava hills routes, Podyjí national park paths, and Svratka river walks—but the approach stays the same. Detailed. Honest. Practical.

What We Specialize In

Four Regions, Countless Routes

We’ve built comprehensive educational resources covering the most rewarding hiking destinations in the Brno region. Each area has its own character, difficulty range, and seasonal considerations.

Moravian Karst

Underground cave networks and limestone formations. We’ve documented the major trails—Punkva River caves, Macocha Abyss—plus lesser-known routes most guides skip. These aren’t casual walks.

Pálava Hills

Rolling terrain with vineyards and panoramic views. We’ve mapped seasonal variations—spring wildflowers, summer shade patterns, autumn colors—so you’ll know what to expect when you visit.

Svratka River

Gentle riverside walks perfect for families and beginners. We’ve identified the best access points, easiest sections, and where wildlife spotting actually happens. No surprises, just good information.

Podyjí National Park

Protected landscape with river canyons and diverse ecosystems. We cover trail conditions, wildlife considerations, and which routes offer the best photography opportunities without requiring technical skills.

Our Core Approach

What Guides Our Work

01

Accuracy First

We don’t estimate trail lengths or hiking times. We measure them. We update route conditions based on seasonal changes and hiker feedback. Your safety depends on real information.

02

Practical Details

We tell you where parking actually works, which water sources are reliable, what the terrain really looks like. We include photos from different seasons so you’re never surprised by what you find.

03

Honest Assessment

Some routes are crowded. Some are poorly maintained. Some have unexpected challenges. We’ll tell you that upfront so you can choose what actually works for your group and experience level.

04

Continuous Learning

We’re still hiking these trails regularly. We don’t rely on old information or second-hand reports. What’s changed this season? We’ll let you know because we’ve been there.

Why We’re Different

Most hiking guides are generic. They give you elevation gain and distance, then assume you’ll figure out the rest. We don’t work that way. We’ve built something specifically for people exploring day hikes near Brno who want real details about what they’ll encounter.

You won’t find inflated difficulty ratings or hidden fees. You won’t see sponsored trails ranked higher than better alternatives. We don’t get paid differently based on which route you choose. Our only interest is making sure you have the information you need to make good decisions about your time and safety.

That’s what Edifyvalley does. We’ve invested years walking these trails, documenting conditions, and building resources that actually help. Not because it’s profitable—it’s not. But because when you’re standing at a trailhead trying to decide whether to go left or right, you deserve to have good information.

Important Information

The trail guides and hiking information provided on this website are for educational and informational purposes only. While we strive to keep all route descriptions, difficulty ratings, and seasonal information accurate and current, hiking conditions can change due to weather, maintenance, and natural factors. We recommend always verifying current conditions with local authorities before embarking on any hike, especially during winter months or after severe weather.

Individual hiking experiences vary based on fitness level, experience, weather conditions, and group composition. Trail difficulty assessments represent general guidelines and may differ based on personal factors. We encourage all hikers to assess their own abilities honestly and choose routes appropriate to their experience level. Always inform someone of your hiking plans, carry adequate supplies, and follow standard safety practices on the trail.
